Munesu Mukombe is a London based interdisciplinary working across performance, writing, moving image, and music. Inspired by the golden age of musical theatre, she’s in Interested in deconstructing the musical. Inserting autobiographical prose, characterisation, story structure drawn from Ursula Le Guin's Carrier Bag Theory of fiction, non-conventional scores (RnB/Electronic Music), and choreography (Burlesque). She investigates the boundaries of identity formed by geopolitical interests and popular culture: who gets to be represented? What becomes canon, and What does the sociopolitical interiority of our lives look like at any given moment? Her work has been shown at institutions such as The Tate Modern, The ICA, and The David Roberts Art Foundation. She is currently writing her first play The Lounge Singer .
